Service Description

This outdoor course offers first aid skills suitable for making decisions when the arrival of advanced aid may be complicated by distance and conditions. Specifically for anyone who travels into the backcountry, this is a great compliment to the skills needed for self-sufficient wilderness adventures! This course is the prerequisite for the Wilderness First Aid Certification module. You must have completed this course within one year of the start date of the 40-hour Wilderness First Aid module. A backpack and the wilderness essentials are recommended for this course (search the Googles). Please do not go out to buy new items for this course. If you do not have all of the essentials, bring what you have, however, extra clothing and waterproof outer clothing is essential. The course is largely held outdoors and it is NOT weather dependent. Also lunch and extra food is part of a great plan, as restaurants are often closed these days and you are likely to get hungry. You will not need to bring the first aid kit. We do not require you to disclose your vaccination status. To try to keep participants and instructor's safe from infectious diseases, masks are recommended when moving about the class, or when you are nearer than 2m to another participant. If you have been exposed to anyone exhibiting symptoms, or if you are feeling ill, please contact your instructor for a credit, but please, do not attend the session. Please, stay safe and be kind.
